Have a question about IV Sedation Dentistry? We're here to help.
Sedation is safe in the hands of trained professionals who are able to maintain a level of comfort and anxiolysis while minimizing effects on respiratory drive and hemodynamics.
Patients will speak with their anesthesia provider prior to the day of their procedure for basic questions and instructions. Preoperative evaluations and consents are signed at arrival at the office. Sedation is provided via IV access with monitors applied to each patient. At the end of the procedure, patients will be brought to a post-operative observation area for recovery.
Patients will be evaluated on a case by case basis for office-based sedation. Certain conditions such as uncontrolled cardiac and pulmonary issues are a contraindication to office-based anesthesia. Patients with a BMI of 35 or greater also tend not to be suited for sedation in an office.
Sedation can be very affordable. Many times we can bundle sedation in with other procedures. Sometimes dental insurance may reimburse you for sedation services but at this time we will collect fees for anesthesia before any procedure.
After each procedure has ended patients will be brought via wheelchair to an appropriate recovery area for monitored observation. Once all recovery criteria have been met patients can be discharged to a family member or friend for further recovery in the comfort of their own home. Patients are advised not to drive or work the same day they receive sedation.
